Roger’s Story: Comfort, Independence and Connection in Mildura

Roger’s Story: Comfort, Independence and Connection in Mildura

Roger has found a new sense of independence since moving into his Guardian Living SDA home in Mildura last year — and those closest to him say the change has been remarkable.

For Roger’s long-time House Supervisor, Scott McMullan from Aruma, the difference has been immediate and deeply rewarding to witness.

“I’ve known Roger for more than 20 years, and since moving into his new home, there’s been such a positive shift in him,” Scott said.

“We’d been searching for the right place for a long time, and when this home became available, we knew it was the right fit.”

Before the move, Roger often spent much of his time in his room. Now, with a spacious bedroom, his own bathroom and a home designed around accessibility and comfort, Scott says Roger is enjoying more freedom, confidence and connection in his daily life.

“He’s got his independence back,” Scott said.

“He’s more comfortable, more social, and really living life on his terms again. It’s been amazing to see.”

The Guardian Living home was purpose-built to support people with high support needs, while also creating a warm and welcoming environment that feels like home.

Features such as open-plan living, quiet breakout spaces, accessible design and integrated assistive technology all help residents like Roger feel more empowered in their everyday routines.

For the team at Guardian Living and onsite support provider, Aruma, stories like Roger’s are a reminder of the life-changing impact the right home can have.
