Our New SDA Homes in Swan Hill in the paper!

Our New SDA Homes in Swan Hill in the paper!

Guardian Living is proud to have partnered with leading disability service provider Aruma to deliver three brand-new Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) homes in Swan Hill. The purpose-built homes will soon be home to a number of new SDA tenants, each with high support needs.

Aruma had been searching for a suitable housing solution in Swan Hill for several years and we were happy to partner with them to deliver this outcome. Guardian Living worked closely with the Aruma team, participants, families, support coordinators and occupational therapists to create a home tailored to each individual’s needs — from layout and accessibility features to assistive technology.

“This is what ‘Housing Made Human’ is all about,” said Stephen Vick, CEO of Guardian Living. “Every home we build is centred around the people who will live there. Our partnership with Aruma has been collaborative from the beginning, ensuring every design decision was made with the participants’ goals and preferences in mind.”

The new SDA homes features spacious bedrooms, each with a private ensuite, light-filled communal living spaces, and are within walking distance to the Swan Hill CBD.

“It’s wonderful to see the participants excited and ready to move into a space that truly feels like home,” said Stephen. “We’re proud to have delivered a project that will make a lasting difference in their lives — a place where they can live with dignity, independence and connection.”

The participants are set to move in by the end of the year and are already looking forward to welcoming family and friends into their new home.

Amy Alexander, Housing Supervisor at Aruma said, “The participants can’t wait. We had a big meeting to tell them move in date is getting closer, and our verbal participant kept saying ‘I’m so excited, is it time to move in yet.’ She is also very excited to have her family come and visit the new house.”
