Partnering for Impact: JG Care and Guardian Living
At JG Care, everything is guided by a simple belief—that every person deserves to feel safe, supported and truly at home.
JG Care specialises in personalised support for individuals with disabilities, with a strong focus on community access. Whether in group settings or through one-on-one assistance, their programs are thoughtfully designed around the unique interests, needs and goals of each participant. But their support goes far beyond structured activities—they’re committed to fostering genuine connection, belonging and confidence within the communities their participants call home.
From visiting local parks and libraries to building relationships with neighbours and small businesses, JG Care works with tenants to live independently, build social connections and engage meaningfully with their surroundings. “By promoting independence and inclusion, we help participants feel confident, valued and connected,” JG Care shared.
A trusted partnership
Since 2020, JG Care has proudly partnered with Guardian Living, where their person-first approaches align perfectly. “The collaborative approach between JG Care and Guardian Living ensures that we can offer the best possible outcomes for participants,” JG Care said. “Their expertise in providing high-quality, accessible housing aligns perfectly with our mission to promote independence and inclusion.”
One story that illustrates the strength of this partnership is that of Aileen and her family.
Aileen had been receiving care from her sister Julia, who was also supporting their two brothers—both living with Huntington’s Disease—and their elderly mother. For many months, this arrangement was working well, with the JG Care management team visiting Aileen regularly to monitor her wellbeing.
Sadly, Julia shared that her cancer had returned making it difficult to be a carer for Aileen. Aileen would need to transition from Ballarat back to Melbourne, where JG Care could provide closer oversight and support.
Their first call was to Guardian Living. Based on previous experiences, they knew Guardian would offer not only professionalism and compassion, but also the sensitivity required to help find Aileen a new home. Tom from Guardian Living quickly stepped in to arrange viewings of two apartments in Essendon.
It was essential that any new home met a number of criteria: easy access to public transport (so support workers from Ballarat could commute), a location that allowed family to visit regularly, and features that aligned with Aileen’s needs and preferences. She values natural light, outdoor space and calm surroundings. An extra bedroom was also needed for overnight carers.
Tom and the Guardian team responded quickly, working with JG Care to ensure the chosen apartment was modified to support Aileen’s needs. Thanks to this incredible collaboration, a suitable home was secured with care and urgency.
JG Care, along with Aileen’s family, is deeply grateful to Guardian Living for their unwavering support. Their compassion helped ease a difficult transition and ensured Aileen could continue receiving the care and dignity she deserved in a home tailored to her.
What “Housing Made Human” means to us
To JG Care, “Housing Made Human” means creating spaces that support not just physical needs, but emotional wellbeing, autonomy and connection. Homes that incorporate helpful technologies, provide access to community, and reflect the individuality of each person. It’s housing that fosters dignity, independence and quality of life.
What we’re most proud of
JG Care takes immense pride in creating lifestyle plans that are as unique as the people they support. Their team works closely with participants to identify personal goals, build confidence and access the resources they need to succeed. Whether it’s helping someone form new friendships, develop skills or take part in local activities, JG Care is honoured to play a role in these transformative journeys.
“Knowing that we’ve played a part in making people’s lives better is what motivates us every day. It’s this deep commitment to personalised care and empowerment that we hold dear and are most proud of,” they explained.
Their greatest reward? Seeing participants grow, gain independence and live with purpose. It’s this dedication to empowerment and compassionate, individualised care that continues to inspire their work every day.
